Band

Animal & the Evolvers
[ the band ]
Hailing from the mean streets of Atlanta, Animal & the Evolvers has created a unique sound that is hard to describe.  One person tried: A mix between The Beatles and My Morning Jacket.  Whatever the hell that means.  One thing, however, is easy to put into words... these guys melt faces.  Are you evolved?
Big Chill
[ guitar ]
Big Chill is exactly that - big and chill.  Towering over most people in both height and the ability to relax on a couch, Chris Prince (so says the birth certificate) compliments Evan's rhythm guitar work with lingering leads of his own.  And the day he bought some effects pedals was a very good day.
Evan Casey
[ vocals / guitar ]
As the primary singer and song-writer, Evan is the de facto leader of the band.  As Big Chill likes to put it, “He’s our tortured genius.”  Evan plays a Gretsch guitar through an old Fender and creates a very particular sound for his sometimes offbeat lyrics.  Seriously.  He wrote a song about syphilis.
Matt Ackerman
[ drums ]
The namesake for the Animal in Animal & the Evolvers, Matt is likened to that famous out-of-control Muppet.  Often, his drumsticks must be physically pried from his hands in order to stop the banging.  As another quirk, he also tends to turn his head far to the left while playing.  He’s not injured.  He’s just in the groove.
Jarrett Bellini
[ bass ]
Jarrett once happened to be Evan and Chill’s neighbor in the Old Fourth Ward, which was convenient for both impromptu jams and carpooling.  Plus, if he ever needed a cup of flour it was just a few doors away.  That never happened.  When playing, Jarrett likes to take his Hofner Club bass and channel Jack Casady, Phil Lesh, and Tina Weymouth, simultaneously dishonoring all three musicians.
